Qatar Tourism highlighted the new major tourism projects on the peninsula, including the cruise terminal under construction.

The Grand Cruise Terminal – which will be located in central Doha, near the Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif – will offer passengers a “spectacular view upon arrival from the West Bay Skyline,” the government agency said. .

When completed, the terminal will be able to accommodate two mega-ships at the same time and offer various attractions including an aquarium and an art gallery.

Qatar Tourism also said an “exciting calendar of events” for tourists – including American tourists – is underway as the country prepares to host the 2022 Qatar Soccer World Cup.

“We continue to expand our tourism offering and are delighted to present customers with the best of Qatari hospitality. In 2019, 190,000 cruise passengers visited the destination, and among them more than 5,000 were American travelers, ”said Berthold Trenkel, COO of Qatar Tourism.

“The US market is an increasingly important market for our inbound tourism, and we want to share the vast developments underway and present visitors from around the world with the best of Qatar,” he added.

Qatar Tourism said that in the past 18 months, Qatar has launched new tourism experiences, restaurants, theme parks and football stadiums. It also adds more than 100 hotels and apartment hotels to its portfolio of properties.

Among the recently opened hotels is the Banyan Tree Doha, a five-star luxury property designed by Jacques Garcia. Other hotel openings on the horizon include the Pullman Doha West Bay, the JW Marriott West Bay, and the Steigenberger Hotel.

Qatar Tourism said it is on its way to its mission of welcoming six million visitors per year by 2030.

The government body also noted that it launched the Visit Qatar mobile app earlier this year, as part of its digital transformation strategy. The app uses the cloud-based capabilities of Adobe Experience Manager to provide users with a “rich, data-driven and organized experience”.

According to a press release, Qatar has also put in place a new set of streamlined measures designed to make travel to Qatar as easy as possible, while maintaining the necessary precautions to continue to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

Qatar’s vaccination program has already seen more than 80.9% of the population fully vaccinated, Qatar Tourism said.

“The ‘Qatar Clean’ program, launched in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, applies the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness, with rigorous procedures in place to ensure customer safety. With 100 percent of hotels approved by Qatar Tourism certified ‘Qatar Clean’, the program is being extended to restaurants and extended to other sectors, including transportation, retail and culture, ”Qatar Tourism wrote. “The measures include social distancing, frequent surface disinfection and contactless payments, to ensure a safe experience in hotels, malls and health clubs and salons nationwide. “

To travel to Qatar, American travelers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with vaccines approved for use by the Ministry of Public Health, and travel at least two weeks after receiving their final dose.
