Flight attendant saves girl from human trafficking by leaving paper and pencil in the toilet

The attention of a flight attendant rescued a passenger in need of rescue. The passenger managed to get a message across to the airline staff thanks to the quick wit of the flight attendant.

In 2017, it was revealed that Alaska Airlines had a real hero on their staff. Shelia Fedrick prevented a woman from leaving the plane with a dangerous man who was keeping her captive.

Fedrick noticed that one of her passengers was uncomfortable with the man she was traveling with. She didn’t know if her intuition was correct, but she decided to investigate the situation after some red flags.

The flight attendant attempted to contact the woman who she believed might need it. The passenger avoided her, but when Fedrick managed to look her in the eye, she immediately knew something was wrong.

The flight attendant entered the bathroom and burst into tears. She didn’t know how to get a clear sign from the woman, so she prayed and then put her hands in her pockets.

Fedrick touched a pencil and a piece of paper and had an idea. If she could get the woman to write a message, she might confirm her suspicions. The flight attendant knew that there was no way she could hand the paper and pencil to the woman in front of the man.

She needed to come up with a smart plan. Fedrick decided to leave the writing materials inside the bathroom. To prevent anyone from entering the toilet, she locked the door.

As a coworker distracted the man, Fedrick motioned to the woman and said the word “bathroom” while showing a handwriting motion with his finger. The woman seemed to have understood the message.

Now all Fedrick could do was hope the woman would go to the bathroom. The passenger walked towards her, the man not leaving her. Fedrick quickly asked if they should use the restroom.

The man answered on behalf of the woman and indicated that she had to go to the bathroom. Fedrick quickly unlocked the bathroom door and allowed the woman to enter on her own.

When the two men returned to their seats, Fedrick quickly walked into the bathroom and saw his piece of paper. She turned it over and read three words that left her in tears yet again.

The, writing in pencil were the words, “I need help.” The secret message was all Fedrick needed to take action. She quickly contacted her pilot and informed him of the situation.

When the plane landed in San Francisco, they got the assistance they needed. Thanks to Fedrick’s efforts, the police were ready to step in and deal with the situation immediately.

They arrested the man and took the trafficked woman into care. Fedrick managed to save the woman, but unfortunately, this is not the case for all victims.

Statistics from 2016 revealed that human trafficking increased by 35.7%. This is why citizens must be aware of their surroundings and act quickly if they suspect a criminal act, just as Fedrick did.
